Most of the time in the “10 Questions” world-building series I give prompts/questions regarding things, places and so on.
Today, we’re going into the world of people, aka NPCs!
Now this has the potential to be as extensive as the rest of the world-building series, and as such, I’ll be adding a second document to keep track of them. Some of the questions/prompts will only be useful in very specific situations, others quite broad. I’m not expecting them to be used by EVERY character all the time, as with the WB prompts, but sometimes they might spark an idea that leads to something food, which is the point!
Eventually (as in it’s on my to-do list), I plan on using these world-building prompts as the base for future lists and generators, such as the Background and Details series, so from my pov, having them separate makes a ton of sense.
Onto the questions/prompts!
- What is their full legal name?
- What alias/use name do they go by?
- What sex and gender, if any, do they go by?
- How old are they/When do they celebrate their birthday?
- Where were they born?
- To what nation or culture are they a citizen?
- Where are they currently living?
- Where are they now?
- What occupation/profession/job do they do?
- What species or ancestry do they come from?
Bonus question – Do they have a nickname? if so what is it and the history behind it?
