The castle library contains relics brought from an Egyptian-like area by a now-deceased collector, including a mummy and a scroll with hieroglyphs. Legend has it that this mummy has been seen to walk the castle hallways. Reading the scroll aloud in front of the mummy may (10 percent chance per level of the reader) actually activate the mummy. The reader then has the same 10 percent chance per level to control the mummy. An uncontrolled mummy attacks all living beings.
Note: If you use the Ravenloft setting, killing the mummy might bring the Mist, transporting the PCs to the Ravenloft domain called the Desert of Har’Akir, as seen in the “Darklords” Ravenloft RR1 Accessory 1991 TSR or the Touch of Death RA3 adventure 1991 TSR.
